Every piece of wood has a unique story. My job is finding the right wood for the right piece, and sharing it with my clients.

Figured wood is created when a tree grows with an unusual grain orientation, causing the wood fibers to curve or twist in a pattern resulting in a unique visual appearance. This often happens due to stress points on the tree, like where the branches meet the trunk (crotch), leading to variations in the growth rings and creating the "figure" effect when light reflects off the surface. Or when a tree experiences stress or injury, resulting in a burl. Even bugs and fungus can create beautiful patterns in the grain structure, like with Ambrosia Maple or spalting.

All of these variations are what I’m after when searching for the finest pieces of wood.
It all begins with uniquely figured wood that I hand select.

Wood that has movement, wood that brings joy, special for every project I take on.
